Spontaneously flew to Maui in March this year with no reasoning other than the fact I felt I needed to go there. It has hands down been the best solo trip I have ever gone on in my life. I crossed surfing Hawaii (A Thousand Peaks) off my bucket list (with an unfortunate bathing suit malfunction resulting in flashing my instructor HAHA), hiked Waihe’e Valley Ridge Trail by myself (girl power), went cliff jumping at Black Rock thanks to my Quebec friend despite my extreme fear of heights, & road tripped the Road to Hana beginning with watching the sunrise on top of Haleakala Volcano. These are only SOME of the highlights. I met the friends of a lifetime, heading home with sunburns, blisters all over my feet, and crazy island hair. Wouldn’t have had it any other way. Wowie Maui.
Heading out to the Island? I stayed at Lone Cone Mountain Hostel on Meares Island – you take a water taxi to and from Tofino each day with a private beach all to yourself. Beach bonfires with new friends, the bioluminescence, and if you want to surf: Surf Sisters is raaaad
Rang the New Year in by jetting off to Mexico!
As much as I love to snowboard throughout the winter, there really is nothing better than some Vitamin D lying on the beach!
We played so much beach volleyball, sailed on a catamaran to Isla Mujeres, explored some cliffs, swam with sharks, and snorkelled of course! Going from 30 degrees celsius to -26 in the same 24 hours is not recommended but we made it 😉
Here’s to 2017 being the year of travel!
Today marks my last day of a long, much needed summer vacation! It’s been a rad time with some amazing people. I travelled all over BC, to Ireland, to San Francisco, and went on so many local adventures I’m left feeling nothing but blessed. I learned to get air time on a wakeboard, learned to wake surf, and went paddle boarding on many gorgeous lakes – I live in an actual paradise. Here’s to even more amazing memories in beautiful places with beautiful people.
Remember everyone, Stay Bright xx.
